Peacock Baseball Relocates Series With UMSL to St. Louis

THIS WEEK IN UIU BASEBALL… Upper Iowa baseball has moved their series versus the Missouri-St. Louis Tritons to St. Louis, Mo. due to the inclement weather in the forecast. The schedule has changed to a double header on Saturday (12 p.m. & 3 p.m.) and Sunday (12 p.m. & 3 p.m.).

LOOKING AHEAD… The home game versus Dubuque, originally scheduled for Apr. 30, has been canceled. 
 
PEACOCK LEADERS… Ethan Sawyer currently leads the team on offense with a .369 average and 48 hits, followed by Gunnar Wicklund at .321. Wicklund paces the team in RBIs with 30, while Gabe Bombardier trails behind with 29. Wicklund leads the team in home runs with nine, while Bombardier follows behind with seven. 
 
Isaiah Maes has thrown a team-high 39 innings after starting in nine games this season. He has struck out 26 batters and given up 44 earned runs. Abraham Sanchez has pitched 30.2 innings after starting in seven games. He has recorded an ERA of 4.70 while giving up 16 earned runs and ringing up 18 batters. Jason Jennerjohn has tallied a 3.47 ERA after throwing 23.1 innings, allowing nine earned runs. 
 
CONFERENCE STANDINGS… Indianapolis moved into first place in the conference race after last weekend's action, holding a 23-5 GLVC mark and a seven-game win streak. Drury sits in second place with a 21-7 record, followed by Maryville in third with a 20-9 mark.

SCOUTING THE TRITONS… Missouri-St. Louis is 26-16 on the season as a whole and sits fourth in the GLVC with a 17-11 conference record. The Tritons split their four-game series with the McKendree Bearcats last week, with all games decided by two runs or less. UMSL is second in the league in team batting average (.328), trailing William Jewell who is hitting .330. As a unit, their pitching crew has accumulated an ERA of 6.22. They are led at the plate by Braedon Stokes who is hitting .417, which ranks third on the GLVC leaderboard. Zach Haygood has the second-best ERA in the conference at 3.50.

INTO THE NEXT WEEK… The Peacocks wrap up their 2024 campaign in a home series with the Truman State Bulldogs next weekend. They play a single game on Friday, May 2, a double header on Saturday and a single game on Sunday.
