THIS WEEK IN UIU BASEBALL… The Peacocks are back on the road this weekend as they face the Prairie Stars of Illinois Springfield. The first game of the series is scheduled for Friday, Apr. 19 at 1 p.m. Saturday will consist of a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m. and the series will wrap up with a single game on Sunday at 12 p.m.

PEACOCK LEADERS… Ethan Sawyer currently leads the team on offense with a .351 average and 40 hits, followed by

Gabe Bombardier paces the team in RBIs with 27, while Wicklund trails behind with 25. Wicklund leads the team in home runs with seven, while Bombardier and
Jared Hoodjer trail with six each.
Isaiah Maes has thrown a team-high 35.2 innings after starting eight games this season. He has struck out 24 batters and given up 37 earned runs.
Abraham Sanchez has pitched 30.2 innings after starting in seven games. He has recorded an ERA of 4.70 while giving up 16 earned runs and ringing up 18 batters.
CONFERENCE STANDINGS… Maryville is leading the conference race with a 20-4 record, while Indianapolis is second with a 19-5 mark on the season. Drury sits in third at 18-6 in the GLVC, while Missouri-St. Louis is fourth (15-9).

SCOUTING THE PRAIRIE STARS (Courtesy of UIS Communications) … Illinois Springfield is currently eighth in the conference with a 11-13 mark while holding an overall record of 19-17. The Prairie Stars are 12-7 in games at the UIS Baseball Field this year. As a team, the Prairie Stars have a .325 batting average and have scored 308 runs. Six different Stars have an average of .300 or above. Mark Kattula (.412) is fourth in the GLVC for batting average. The UIS pitching staff currently holds a 7.89 ERA while allowing 248 earned runs. Opponents have a .315 batting average against the UIS pitchers. The Prairie Star defense has a GLVC-leading .977 fielding percentage with only 27 errors.
DOWN THE STRETCH… Upper Iowa will play the remainder of their regular season games at home. They are set to take on Missouri-St. Louis on Robertson Woods Field next weekend (Apr. 26-28).
