Consistent Scoring Gives Panthers Edge Over Peacocks

Upper Iowa concluded their four-game series against Drury on Sunday afternoon, falling in game four 8-2. UIU compiled two runs in the eighth inning, but it was not enough to overtake the eight-run lead established by the Panthers after the first seven innings of play. The Peacocks move to 6-17 overall and 3-7 in the GLVC.

DU tallied ten hits and eight RBIs while UIU recorded five hits and two RBIs.

The Panthers brought in their first run of the game right off the bat in the first inning after a single to left field.

Justin Baehler had the first hit for Upper Iowa in the third inning on a single to center field, but was left on base.

Drury collected an additional three runs in the fourth inning to command a 4-0 lead. In the bottom of the frame, the Peacocks saw a single from Zimmer to stack two runners on the base paths, but were unable to bring anyone around.

The Panthers scored one run in both the fifth and sixth innings, while tacking on two more runs in the seventh for an 8-0 lead.

Upper Iowa scored their two runs of the game both in the eighth inning behind hits from both Gunnar Wicklund and Gabe Bombardier

Abraham Sanchez (2-3) threw for five innings, allowing four hits and three earned runs. He was relieved by Marcus Champagne (1.2 IP) and JJ Vargas (2.1 IP).

UIU baseball returns to action next weekend against the Bearcats of McKendree in a four-game series on Thurs.-Saturday. The first contest on March 28 is scheduled for 1 p.m.
