Peacock men's hoops tested the number one ranked team in the GLVC this evening but struggled to overcome the UIndy defense, fueled by 12 blocks, and their stellar shooting as they netted 60% from the field and 56.3% from beyond the arc.

The Greyhounds held
Jake Hilmer, the conference's leading scorer, to only six points and one field goal. The senior found other ways to be involved in the offense as he dished out a team-high eight assists.

Nick Reid and
Noah King paced the Peacocks with 21 points each, followed by
Kyle Hrncir with 15 and
Caleb Delzell with 14.

UIndy showed their resilience from the opening tip as they started off trailing UIU 6-0 after two back-to-back three-pointers from Reid, but followed that up with a 9-0 scoring run to grab their first lead of the game.

The two teams went back and forth to tie the game up at 18 apiece, when a 6-2 Peacock burst fueled by
Caleb Delzell put Upper Iowa ahead 21-20, which would be the last time they led the Greyhounds.

UIU continued to battle and attempted to keep the home team at bay as they concluded the first half down 48-41.

Both sides went basket-for-basket to open the second period until UIndy went on a 12-3 run to take command with a 16-point lead (66-50), their biggest advantage of the game.

Upper Iowa outscored Indianapolis 8-2 with buckets from Reid and Hrncir to pull back within ten. Reid netted another five points further down the stretch to trail 72-65. Indianapolis knocked down two free throws before King caught fire and hit a free throw and two jumpers to claw into the lead and only trail by four (74-70).

The Greyhounds strung together seven straight points to extend their lead to 11 (81-70) and keep out of Upper Iowa's reach, keeping their rhythm for the remainder of the game and trumping the Peacocks.

Upper Iowa shot 36.3% from the field, 25.8% beyond the arc and 77.8% at the charity stripe.

The Peacocks are set to face Lewis on Saturday at 3 p.m. to wrap up their weekend of play.
