Mild Weather Allows Change in Peacock Baseball Schedule

Upper Iowa baseball has never played a home game in February, but that is about to change in 2024. The streak of mild weather has allowed the Peacocks and the University of Wisconsin Parkside Rangers to cancel their trip to Tennessee and play a home-and-home pair of double headers instead.

UIU and UWP were originally slated to play a four-game series in Tennessee on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 23-24, but now the teams have agreed to split their series into a pair of double headers with each school acting as a host.

Robertson Woods Field is ready for play and the team has been practicing on it regularly. Upper Iowa will host the season-opening double header on Sunday, Feb. 25 in Fayette beginning at 12 p.m. The teams will play a seven-inning/nine-inning format for the double header.

Upper Iowa will then travel toward Kenosha, Wis. for a double header hosted by Parkside on Tuesday. Both the location and time are to be determined at this time, but the double header could get moved to another date if available for both teams.

Live stats and a video stream (no audio) will be available on Sunday for fans that can't make it to Fayette for the games.
