Upper Iowa men's basketball concluded its road stretch in Minnesota in competition with St. Cloud State, coming up shy in a 66-65 decision. The Peacocks trailed by two points after the first 20 minutes, shooting 35% from the floor and 14% beyond the arc. They finished the game with a 19% clip from long-range and 35% from the field.
The Huskies led for the entire second half, but the Peacocks had an opportunity at the end of the contest to overtake the lead. The red and black were ahead 62-56 with 1:40 remaining when a
Nick Reid three-pointer brought UIU within three (62-59). St. Cloud netted two free throws to extend their advantage back to five, but a three-point knock from
Kyle Hrncir with four seconds left made it a one-possession game.
Upper Iowa fouled St. Cloud State on the next inbound, and their two free throw conversions at the stripe made it a four-point deficit. Hrncir came down the floor and netted another three-pointer to cut the lead to one, 66-65, but with under a second left on the clock, time expired on the next inbound play by the Huskies.
St. Cloud State opened the second stint on a 15-2 run in the opening eight minutes, extending their lead to 48-33. The Peacocks pulled themselves back in the game with a 15-2 burst of their own, cutting into the lead to only trail by two points, 52-50, with under eight minutes left.
SCSU had an 8-2 scoring run down the stretch after UIU closed the gap to one, 53-52, and the Huskies maintained the lead for the rest of the half.
Noah King led the team with 21 points on 8-14 shooting.

Kyle Hrncir followed behind with 15 points each, Hrncir with a team-high nine rebounds.
UIU will have its first action in Fayette next weekend as they host the Peacock Classic, featuring Northwest Missouri State, Concordia, St. Paul, and Southwest Minnesota State. They will face CSP on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 3 p.m. and SMSU on Sunday at 3 p.m.
