Upper Iowa volleyball plays its final two matches of the 2024 season this weekend in Missouri. They take on Maryville on Friday at 6 p.m. and Missouri S&T on Saturday at 3 p.m. The Peacocks come into this weekend 10-15 on the season and 2-9 in conference play.Â

CLOSING IN ON THE ALL-TIME ASSIST RECORD
Nicole Pozorski is barreling in on the Upper Iowa volleyball all-time assist record held by Keri Vance (2006-09), who recorded 3,833 assists. Pozorski has tallied 3,817 in her career and 913 in the 2024 campaign. She ranks fifth in the GLVC in total assists and assists per set with 9.51.

WHO'S LEADING THE RACE
With one final week of play, six league teams have clinched their spot in the GLVC Championship Tournament. Quincy sits first with a 10-1 mark, while Lewis and Maryville follow behind at 9-2. Others who have earned a spot are Rockhurst (9-3), Illinois Springfield (7-4) and Indianapolis (7-4). Two spots remain in the postseason tournament, with a cluster of teams fighting to get in. Missouri-St. Louis is next on the list at 6-5, while four teams have a 4-7 record: Drury, Southwest Baptist, McKendree and Missouri S&T. The standings are rounded out by Upper Iowa (2-9), Truman (2-9) and William Jewell (1-11).

ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
Maryville ranks third in the league with a 9-2 record in conference and a 15-10 mark overall. Their only conference losses came to Quincy (3-0) and Rockhurst (3-2), who rank first and fourth in the GLVC. The Saints are on a five-game win streak that started after they defeated #14 Missouri-St. Louis 3-1. Taylor Hashbrook is listed 3rd in the GLVC in digs with 5.55 per set and Josey Wahlers is 7th in blocks (.99 per set).

Missouri S&T is tied for 8th in the conference with three other teams at a 4-7 mark, while their overall record on the season is 8-17. The Miners are on a four-game losing streak that they will look to break this weekend, all of which have been three-set losses. Their last win was over #14 Missouri-St. Louis as they trumped them in a 3-1- decision. S&T ranks fourth in the GLVC in blocks with 201 (2.14 per set). In the GLVC, Madison Smith is third in blocks with 109 on the season and Alina Carrillo is 9
th in kills per set with 3.63.
