The Peacocks returned to Illinois, to face the Illinois Springfield Prairie Stars, who were able to overcome UIU in a 3-1 match.
The Prairie Stars opened their Senior Day with a goal four minutes into the match on a strike from Anton Aduwa-Emovon, with Kevin Herrera dishing out the assist. They were then able to take advantage of a penalty kick less than two minutes later, to jump to a 2-0 lead. Fifth year
Thomas Walle recorded UIU's first shot on goal on a strike down the middle in the 12
th, that was hauled in by Edoardo Pinna. Junior
JJ Gonzalez-Hayes recorded his first save of the day two minutes later, and junior
Florian Deick added a strike on target in the 26
th that was deflected away. With less than a minute in the half, Noah Brill of UIS scored the third goal of the game, on an assist from Mitch Olenick.
Freshman
Timur Nagy began the second period with a 50
th minute shot on goal, that was saved by Pinna. Walle and senior
Fabio Bender each added shots in the 53
rd and 54
th, before Walle scored a goal in the 63
rd minute, making it a 3-1 game. Walle is now tied with freshman
Julian Mesen for most goals on the team with three, while scoring in consecutive games. Gonzalez-Hayes added two more saves in the 63
rd and and 79
th minutes, but the Peacocks wer unable to cut any further into the lead as UIS secured the 3-1 win.
Upper Iowa will look to end the season on a high note as they face McKendree on Sunday, Nov. 3 at 2:30 p.m. in Lebanon, Ill.
