Peacocks Face off Against the Felines

THIS WEEK IN PEACOCK MEN'S SOCCER… Upper Iowa hosts Drury on Friday, Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m. and Southwest Baptist on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 2:30 p.m.

WEEKEND FLASHBACK… Junior JJ Gonzalez-Hayes is coming off a nine-save performance in the Peacocks 2-2 draw with William Jewell. He finished one save shy of his career high, having previously recorded ten saves against Indianapolis. Gonzalez-Hayes has recorded 31 saves in seven appearances and his 4.43 saves per game average are the third-highest in the GLVC. Freshman Julian Mesen scored his second goal of the season against WJC, tying senior Daniel Pranger for most goals on the team. Junior Alejandro Sanchez assisted on Mesen's goal, and he now joins fifth year Daigo Adachi and junior Emir Basar in the two-assists club. James Moody scored the opening goal of the game in the 24th minute and he appeared in all 90 minutes of action.
 
PREVIEW OF THE PANTHERS… Drury has started the season 3-3-4 with a 1-3-3 conference record. Junior Camden Meyer ranks fourth in the GLVC with an average of 4.20 saves per game with 42 saves on the year. Junior Carson Morgan leads the conference with five goals scored and he is coming off a weekend where he scored two goals against Indianapolis and a goal vs. Illinois Springfield. Junior Joe Loughnane ranks third in the GLVC with four assists, and he dished out an assist in three consecutive games in September. He added a goal against Northeastern State and has started in all ten matches.

BOUT WITH THE BEARCATS… Southwest Baptist have posted a 2-6-3 record with a 1-5-1 conference mark. They are currently on a five-game losing streak and have been held scoreless in their previous six games. Junior Marco Iniguez has recorded 33 saves with a save percentage of 70.3% with two shutouts on the season. Senior Callum Bisset leads the team with both two goals and two assists while starting in every game. Junior Emilio Linares and senior Victor Valero have each added one goal on the season.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS… The Peacocks will take on GLVC newcomer, Lincoln on Friday, Oct. 18 at 7:30 p.m. and Missouri S&T on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 2:30 p.m. Both games will be played on the road.
