Upper Iowa battled the William Jewell Cardinals to a 2-2 tie on the road.

Daniel Pranger recorded the first shot on goal of the game in the 13
th minute, which was saved by Umberto DiCarlo. Following a save by junior
JJ Gonzalez-Hayes, junior
James Moody scored his first goal of the season, on an unassisted strike in the 24
th minute. The Cardinals had two great chances to tie the game late in the half, but Gonzalez-Hayes recorded consecutive saves in the 40
th and 43
rd minutes.
The Peacocks subbed in freshman
Julian Mesen in the 63
rd minute and he made an immediate impact as he scored a goal just a minute later on a corner kick assist from junior
Alejandro Sanchez. Mesen scored his second goal of the season on the play and Sanchez picked up his second assist which are both tied for team-highs.
Luck was on the Cardinals side in the 67
th minute as Gonzalez-Hayes made a diving save in the 67
th minute, but his deflection ended up at the feet of Tristan Bareotta, who scored an open shot on goal to cut the lead to one. William Jewell's aggressive attack in the closing minutes led to numerous shots on goal, which saw Gonzalez Hayes pick up saves in the 84
th, 85
th, and 86
th minutes. He recorded his ninth save of the game with 50 seconds remaining, which is one shy of his career high.
With just five seconds left to play, WJC was fouled in the box, and they earned a penalty kick. Zach Nichols stepped up to take the kick and his shot sailed into the goal to tie the game at 2-2.
The Peacocks will return to Fayette to host Drury on Friday, Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m. and Southwest Baptist on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 2:30 p.m.
