The Maryville Saints continued their undefeated season as they pulled out a 4-0 win over Upper Iowa.
The Saints offense was firing on all cylinders to start the game with shots on goal in the first and third minutes that were both caught by junior
Isabelle Wagner. They jumped to an early lead on a sixth minute goal by Ashlyne Hunt and added a second goal from Ulrika Bredin in the tenth minute. Wagner added another two saves in the 15
th and 20
th minutes, and she finished the first half, with a season-high seven saves over the course of the 45-minute period.
Hunt scored her second goal of the game in the 57
th minute, extending the Saints lead to three. Wagner would later record her ninth and final save of the game in the 65
th minute, on a save down the middle in her season-high performance. Sophomore
Meghan Zwicker recorded a strike on target down the middle of the goal in the 70
th, which was saved by Saints keeper, Sophia Sulawske. Maryville added their fourth goal two minutes later from Nika Vemdal, and the game would end with senior
Leah Buerck adding a shot on goal as time expired, which was deflected away by Sulawske.
Despite the defeat, Upper Iowa still remains the #8-seed in the conference as they rank three points ahead of Truman State and Quincy.
Upper Iowa will celebrate Senior Day against Missouri-St. Louis on Sunday, Oct. 27 at noon. The Peacocks will honor their six seniors following the match in
