The Peacocks concluded Senior Day in a hard fought 1-0 game where the Missouri-St. Louis Tritons were able to pull away with a second half goal.
Junior
Isabelle Wagner recorded the first save of the game on a deflection in the 5
th minute and the Peacocks defense added a team save five minutes later. Junior
Nevaeh James beat the Tritons defense and took a shot on goal down the middle in the 16
th, which was caught by keeper Mary Kate Neal. She added another shot on goal on a lob from freshman
Samantha Most, and while her header was on target, it was caught by Neal. Wagner finished the half with two saves, as she made a diving catch on the left side of the goal in the 26
th minute, as both teams entered the half in a 0-0 tie.
The Tritons jumped into the lead in the 64
th minute as Kayley Judy scored the goal on an assist from Jada Holloman. Sophomore
Jessica Ancheta nearly tied the game in the 77
th, but her shot sailed wide right. Freshman
Mikalyn Hidde recorded a shot on target in the 80
th minute, which was deflected away and Wagner responded with her third save of the game three minutes later. The Peacocks were awarded three corner kicks during the final three minutes of action, but the Tritons back-line defended each chance to secure the 1-0 win.
Following the match, Upper Iowa honored their six seniors,
Darci Faichnie,
Emma Johnston,
Leah Buerck,
Amy Gonzalez,
Faith Wilson, and
Trinity Engelhardt as they played their final game at Harms-Eischeid Stadium.
The Peacocks currently sit in a three-way tie for the #8-seed in the conference with Truman State and Quincy, as they have all posted a 4-5-3 GLVC record. Upper Iowa will be seeking positive results as they travel to Illinois for their final two games of the season as they take on Illinois Springfield Friday, Nov. 1 at 5 p.m. and McKendree on Sunday, Nov. 3 at noon.
