The Peacocks picked up a point for the third game in a row, as they tied the Missouri S&T Miners 1-1 on a late game goal.
Freshman
Jordan Goldstein recorded the first shot of the game, which was an on-target strike that was saved in the bottom left corner by Natalie Newman. Junior
Isabelle Wagner recorded her first save in the 17
th minute, and the Peacocks defense came up clutch with a team save on the left side of the goal ten seconds later. Freshman
Mikalyn Hidde nearly scored for the third game in a row in the 25
th minute, but her shot was deflected away on the left side of the goal. Wagner added saves in the 27
th and 42
nd minutes, as both teams remained tied 0-0 at halftime.
Hidde fired her second shot on goal in the 52
nd minute and senior
Darci Faichnie added another strike in the 59
th minute which were both saved. The Miners would then take the lead as Greycen Erisman scored in the 67
th minute with Ava Hoenes picking up the assist. Sophomore
Haylie Hutchinson nearly tied the game ten minutes later with her first shot on goal, and freshman
Kaydence Bonneau added another shot down the middle that was saved in the 83
rd.
Following Wagner's fourth save of the game, the Peacocks marched down the field before junior
Nevaeh James made a perfect pass to Goldstein. She fired a shot on goal that found the back of the net, tying the game at 1-1. With the goal, Goldstein now leads the Peacocks with four goals on the year while James recorded a point for the second game in a row, as she also scored a goal on Friday vs. Lincoln. Sophomore
Maile Kehano and Hidde each added shots on target in the 87
th which were saved as both teams walked away with a 1-1 tie.
Upper Iowa will return to Fayette for the final time this season. The Peacocks take on Maryville in their Breast Cancer Awareness Game on Friday, Oct. 25 and Missouri-St. Louis on Senior Day, Sunday, Oct. 27. Both games will be held at noon.
