Upper Iowa volleyball picked up their third win of the weekend on Saturday morning, defeating Ursuline 3-0 by scores of 25-20, 25-13 and 25-12. The Peacocks improved their record to 9-10 on the season after adding three wins over the weekend.
"We had a solid match this morning against Ursuline," said Head Coach
Jim Dietz. "We had excellent block timing, and Lydia's serve receive was outstanding, and they just kept serving at her."
The Peacocks prevented the Arrows from recording a service ace throughout the match, while
Lydia Imbrogno led UIU with six aces.
Zoe Semelroth paces the team with 13 kills (.414), followed by
Alexis Moses (.700) with seven.
Nicole Pozorski handed out 28 assists and
McKenna Diermeier collected 17 digs.
UIU tallied a .296 hitting percentage and Ursuline recorded a 111.
The Arrows had an early 6-3 lead in set one, but the Peacocks strung together six straight points to take a 9-6 lead that they did not relinquish. Ursuline responded with a 6-1 run to trail by three (19-16). UIU edged out their opponents by five points, igniting their momentum for the second and third set to win by more comfortable margins.
Upper Iowa returns to Dorman Memorial Gymnasium next weekend and dives back into conference play as they host Rockhurst on Friday, Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. and William Jewell on Saturday at 5 p.m.
