Peacocks Breeze Past Blue Tigers in Missouri

Upper Iowa football grabbed its fourth conference win of the season in a 31-3 triumph over Lincoln on Saturday afternoon. The Peacocks improved to 5-3 overall and 4-1 in the GLVC, while the Blue Tigers dropped to 1-6 on the year and 0-5 in the league. 
 
The Peacocks got off to a hot start, recording 21 points in the opening quarter. 
 
RJ Wells ignited the scoring for the blue and white as his 22-yard rush into the end zone put the Peacocks up 7-0 with 11:53 left in the first frame. 
 
UIU scored five minutes later after several key plays set them up just shy of the goal line. Darryl Overstreet Jr. completed a 13-yard pass to Dakota Gates-Bridges and a 27-yard launch to Cam Williams. Two plays later, Overstreet rushed for 11 yards to the LUM 1. A short rush up the middle from Braden Powers gave the Peacocks their second touchdown of the day for a 14-0 lead. 
 
Upper Iowa's third touchdown of the first quarter was on a 5-yard pitch from Overstreet to Mante Morrow
 
The Blue Tigers made their way onto the scoreboard early in the second period with a 30-yard field goal, their only points of the contest. 
 
Upper Iowa added one more touchdown in the first half behind a 16-yard run from Jayden Mitchell with 30 seconds remaining until the intermission. 
 
Nathan Behne notched a 28-yard field goal in the fourth to cap off the scoring and seal Upper Iowa's 31-3 victory. 
 
Wells rushed for a team-high 52 yards and averaged 6.6 yards per rush, followed by Mitchell, who registered 48 yards. 
 
Three Peacock receivers recorded over 40 yards in the contest: Mante Morrow (49), Master Brooks (45) and Cam Williams (44). 
 
Overstreet 202 passing yards (14-22) with one touchdown pass. 
 
The Peacock defense applied pressure to the Blue Tiger offense, compiling eight sacks, led by Rhett Smith with three and Demontay Mack with two.

Michael Mulherin led the defense with nine tackles, followed by Xhavion Reese, Trevor Thompson and Demontay Mack with seven. 
 
The Peacocks host Indianapolis at Harms-Eischeid Stadium next Saturday at 12 p.m.
