The Upper Iowa women's golf team competed at the TPC Deere Run Invitational on Monday and Tuesday and tied for seventh out of nine teams. The tournament was hosted by William Penn in Silvis, Ill. The Peacocks played three rounds and posted a + 233 across the two days. They shot a +70, +71 and +92 over the three rounds.
Indiana Wesleyan came in first with a +123, followed by William Penn and GLVC newcomer Lincoln in a tie for second (+162).
Caroline Gibson (Indiana Wesleyan) took the individual crown with a +19, recording round scores of 77 (+5), 77 (+5) and 81 (+9).
Katie Schweers led the way for the Peacocks and landed in 9th place out of 50 competitors, shooting a +40 for the tournament with round scores of 86, 84 and 86. She birdied three holes during the tournament, one in each round.
Lizzy Ellis finished 28th with +55 and round scores of 88, 89 and 94. The others contributing to the team score were Carli Gebel in 35th (+67), Delaney Martin in 38th (+31) and Ryah Bergeron in 39th (+73).
Addison Webber (37th), Brynn Bonefas (41st) and Sydney Gefaller (50th) competed individually and finished with +69, +75 and +140.
Women's golf is back on the course next week on Oct. 21-22 in Caseyville, Ill. at the Far Oaks Golf Club, hosted by McKendree.
