BROOKFIELD, Ill. — The Don Hansen Football Committee has released the 2023 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-America team.

The Don Hansen team carries out the legacy of long-time small college football advocate Don Hansen, who passed away at age 75 on Aug. 29, 2010. Hansen, from Brookfield, Ill., started and published Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette for three decades, selecting NCAA Division II All-America teams for the first time in 1988.

Tight end Eddie Burgess has garnered the Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-America Honorable Mention nod to punctuate his sophomore season with the Peacocks.

Burgess appeared in all 11 games for the Peacocks this season as he caught 43 passes for a total of 616 yards. His longest catch was for 58 yards against Michigan Tech, and in that same game he tallied his season-high of 111 receiving yards in a single contest. The sophomore recorded a team-high of eight touchdowns this fall, which also led the conference (GLVC). He showed his versatility on the field as he completed a 12-yard pass on a fake punt in the last game of the season versus Quincy. His efforts earned him GLVC First Team All-Conference and D2CCA Super Region 3 Second Team.
