Upper Iowa dropped their first match of the weekend to Illinois Springfield in four sets. The loss this evening put them at 1-1 in the conference and 5-7 overall. The Prairie Stars improve to 4-9 (1-2 GLVC).
The Peacocks dropped the first 25-23. After being down 24-20, UIU rallied off three straight points, but allowed the home team to seal the deal after a kill from Eirini Glynou, who recorded 23 kills by the end of the four sets.
Upper Iowa claimed the second set in convincing fashion, defeating the Prairie Stars 25-11. They started off the game with a 7-1 advantage, keeping their opponents from getting into a rhythm. The Peacocks held the home team to only six kills in this set.
UIU fell in the third set 25-21 and the fourth set 25-20.
Zoe Semelroth led the team with 17 kills, followed by
Emily Kono with ten. Semelroth and
Martha Pace played big at the net as they each recorded five blocks.
Nicole Pozorski dished out 39 assists and
Kaci Beesecker tallied 26 digs.
The Peacocks head to Quincy University for a 3 p.m. matchup tomorrow afternoon.
