Upper Iowa has concluded their first out-of-state meet at the University of Minnesota with a 35
th place finish out of 37 teams. A total of 431 runners competed in the meet and all five of the Peacocks runners finished in the top 250.
Three Peacocks finished within five spots of each other with senior
Jadyn Schultz leading the way with a time of 27:45.9 and a 199
th place finish. Right behind her were a duo of sophomores in
Eryn Sabelka who came in 201
st place with a time of 27:58.8 and
Mackenzie Rader finishing with a time of 28:03.7. Rounding out the Peacocks runners were a pair of seniors with
Nora Nouhaili finishing in 215
th place with a time of 28:38.8 and
Alaina Sunlin coming in 244
th place with a time of 35:45.3.
Augustana University finished in first place as they have five runners place in the top 22. They were led by junior Aubrey Surage's 6
th place finish with a time of 22:24.9 and sophomore Ella Bakken's time of 22:50.6 putting her in 14
th place. University of Mary came in second place as they had two runners finish in the top four. Juniors Alyssa Becker and Andrijana Fundak came in 3
rd and 4
th place with times of 22:18.2 and 22:24.2 Sophomore Gianna Bomaritto of Sonoma State came in 1
st place in the meet with a time of 21:44.2 which was more than 30 seconds faster than anyone else. Senior Jessica Kampman of Dordt University finished in 2
nd place with a time of 22:15.6.
UIU will compete in their final meet of the regular season next weekend as they travel to Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. The meet will be held on Saturday, Sep. 30 at 10:45 a.m.
