Upper Iowa competed in their final match of the Missouri S&T Classic this morning and were defeated 3-1 by Northwestern Oklahoma. The Peacocks won the first set 26-24, but then dropped the next three with scores of 28-26, 25-17 and 25-22. They sit at a 4-6 record after the conclusion of the weekend, while the Rangers improved to 4-7.
Collectively, the team recorded 59 kills, 55 assists, 69 digs and ten aces. The opposing team gathered 54 kills, 49 assists, 65 digs and 12 aces.
Martha Pace led the team as she tallied 14 kills, followed by
Zoe Semelroth and
Alexis Moses with seven. Erika Asencio Soriano led the Rangers with 14.
Nicole Pozorski handed out 50 assists in today's contest, while Cameron Lobb for Northwestern Oklahoma gathered 44.
Kaci Beesecker toed the back line as she recorded 17 digs. Asencio Soriano finished the game with 18.
Upper Iowa kicks off conference play with one match next weekend on Sep. 23 versus Truman State. The game will be held in Kirksville, Mo. and is scheduled for 3 p.m.
