Both of Upper Iowa's men's and women's golf teams competed and acted as hosts this weekend at the annual UIU Spring Invitational. The event, hosted at Sunnyside Country Club in Waterloo, Iowa, featured 14 teams from 11 schools on the men's side and seven teams from six schools on the women's side. Each team shot 18 holes on Friday and Saturday to complete the tournament.

On the men's side, the Peacocks finished in fifth place with a score of 630 (+54) for the event. The women's UIU team matched that fifth-place finish after recording a final score of 776.

Kirkwood Community College won the men's title thanks to a team score of 604 (+28) over the two rounds, while St. Catherine University earned the women's title behind a score of 618 (+42). Individually, Bemidji State University's Ben Corbid earned medalist honors with a final score of 143 (-1), while St. Catherine's Kyra Venne finished as the top women's competitor with a final score of 150 (+6).
The UIU men's team was led by
Tate Carlson, who successfully cracked the top-10 with a score of 154 (+7) after rounds of 76 and 75 to earn a tie for seventh place.
Owen Davison and
Ashton Martens followed with identical final scores of 159 (+15) that clinched a tie for 26th place.

Nathan Petrak was not far behind, recording a final score of 161 (+17) over two rounds.
Jacob Mahloch, competing as an individual, finished with a score of 171 (+27).
Nolan Ross rounded out the team score with a total of 174 (+30).

On the women's side,
Katie Schweers paced the Peacocks, finishing in a tie for 11th place with a score of 173 (+29).
Lizzy Ellis,
Ryah Bergeron, and
Brynn Bonefas finished in closed succession, recording final scores of 200, 201, and 202 respectively.
Delaney Martin was forced to withdraw from the event due to injury.

Individually, Carlson and Davison finished inside the top-10 among all competitors in Par 3 scoring with a stroke average of 3.13 (+1) and pars with 21 each. On the women's side, Schweers tied for first with two other competitors who recorded four birdies across the two rounds.
Up next, both of UIU's golf teams will prep for postseason play at the NSIC Championships. The men are scheduled to compete at Adams Pointe Golf Club beginning on April 21, while the women are set to begin play at Paradise Pointe Golf Club on April 28.
