The Peacock track and field teams traveled to Grand View University on Friday, April 28. Upper Iowa heads to Loras College next weekend in Dubuque, Iowa for the Dr. Tucker Open on Friday, May 5. This is their final meet before the NSIC Championships May 13-14 in St. Paul, Minn.
The women were highlighted with one first place finish on the day by
Ashley Donovan, who finished the 800m in 2:23.36. There were a handful who participated in the sprints. Starting with the 100m,
Carolina Regalado took seventh in 13.25, while her teammate McKenzie Mohlencamp ran it in a time of 14.73.
Leah Ries grabbed fourth in the 100m hurdles, finishing in 16.97.
Regalado, Ries and Mohlencamp each ran the 200m dash. Regalado finished fifth in 27.70, while Ries completed it in 29.32 and Mohlencamp in 30.80. The 400m rounded out the sprinting events, as
Mackenzie Rader was the only Peacock to compete and finished in a time of 1:05.27.
In the distance events,
Eryn Sabelka and
Jade Martin started things off in the 800m. Sabelka finished fourth (2:30.89) and Martin fifth (2:30.90). In the 1500m run, Jadyn Schu;tz finished in 5:32.56 and Victoria Caliendo in 6:33.88. Donovan picked up a second place finish in the 3000m steeple in a time of 12:37.07.
Macey White ran the 5000m in 21:44.43.
Martin had the highest finish in the field events as she took fourth in the javelin throw (30.95m). She was joined in the event by Mohlencamp (19.40m).
Kiana Maghanoy picked up a fifth place finish in the discus throw (40.94) and seventh place in the hammer throw (45.17).
Jamie Kerkvliet competed in the discus throw (29.91), hammer throw (34.75) and the shot put (9.38). To wrap things up,
Katie McEnery took fifth place in the pole vault with a launch of 2.30m
Gunner Meyer grabbed the highest finish of the day on the men's side, taking second place in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.29. Joining him in the sprints was Jarrett Kruse, who finished the 200m dash in 24.12.
In the distance events,
Nathan Goranson came in fifth in the 800m with a time of 1:59.08. He was joined in the event by
Peyton Halverson (2:03.71) and
Marcus Holman (2:10.91).
Chance Adam completed the 1500m run in 4:40.47.
Brennan Matthews competed in three field events. He finished sixth in the discus throw (42.14m) and also participated in the hammer throw (36.37m) and shot put (11.81m). Tyler Eberhardt rounded things off in the men's field events in the pole vault with a launch of 2.90m.
