The Upper Iowa men's golf team competed for the final time this season on Sunday at the 2022-23 NSIC Men's Golf Championship at Adams Pointe Golf Club in Blue Springs, Missouri. The Peacocks finished in sixth place with a final score of 938 after rounds of 314, 316, and 308 for the tournament.
Bemidji State won the NSIC Men's Golf Championship, holding off Winona State by one stroke, to earn its 16th NSIC title, its first since 2000. The Beavers had four players in the top seven, including three earning NSIC All-Tournament Team honors by finishing in the top five.
Winona State's Gabe Goodman earned medalist honors by finishing six strokes ahead of the field. Goodman shot rounds of 71, 69, and 73 to be the only competitor to finish under par for the championships with a total score of 213 (-3). BSU's Caden Lick and Rylin Petry, along with Minnesota State's Jack Klimek, tied for second as they all finished with a score of 219 (+3).
Tate Carlson and
Owen Davison finished with UIU's joint top score at 231 (+15) to secure a tie for 22nd place. Davison's round of 73 on the final day represented the lowest individual round by a Peacock this weekend, followed by Carlson's opening round of 76.
Jacob Mahloch finished in 28th place after recording a final score of 237 (+21).
Ashton Martens rounded out the team score with a total of 239 (+23).
Nathan Petrak completed the tournament with a final score of 261 (+45).
Individually, Davison tied for fourth among all competitors in Par 3 scoring with a stroke average of 3.17 (+2) while also tying for second with a total of 34 pars. Davison was also one of seven players to record an eagle.
Bemidji State earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Central/Midwest Super Regional, which will be played on May 11-13 at The Bridges Golf Course in Winona, Minnesota; hosted by Winona State University. The entire field for the NCAA Men's Golf Championships will be announced Friday, April 28 on NCAA.com.
