The Peacocks started their road stretch with a doubleheader at Minnesota State University and earned themselves a split on the day, dropping the first game 5-3, but picking up the second one in a 6-4 result. Upper Iowa has not been victorious against MSU since the 2017 season. The Peacock have now tallied just their third win against the Mavericks out of 27 head-to-head-matchup. UIU now holds a 14-17 overall record and a 6-7 mark in the NSIC, while MSU is 19-13 on the season and 8-6 in the conference.
Game one
The Peacocks registered just five hits in their first game against the Mavericks, four of them coming in the third inning to help them put three runs on the scoreboard.
Minnesota State put up runs in the second, third, fourth and fifth innings. They hit two triples in the second inning to get things going, eventually scoring on a sacrifice fly for the early 1-0 lead. Upper Iowa strung together three singles and one triple in the third inning to initiate their scoring. Sam Jessie cracked a ball to right field, scoring two runs and putting UIU up 2-1. They brought in their third run in the next at-bat as
Laila Pelds singled to center field and scored their last run to cap off the inning.
Although the Peacocks did not put up any more runs, the Mavericks were just getting started as they slowly overtook the lead. MSU smacked a two-run homer in the third inning, tying up the game at three runs apiece. They went on to score an additional run in the fourth and one more in the fifth to seal the game in a 5-2 decision.

Alli Schaffer each recorded a hit for UIU, while Jessie tallied two RBI's and Pelds added one.
Rylee McGonigle started the game in the circle for Upper Iowa. She threw four innings, allowing four runs on six hits and walking one batter.

Game two
Kylie Doty had a monstrous performance at the plate in game two as she went four-for-four to help push the Peacocks to their 6-4 victory. Sedam, Charles and Jessie each executed two hits to help their scoring efforts.
Abby Buckman started things off on the mound for the Peacocks, lasting just over two innings, allowing eight hits (three earned) and four runs. Vetter came in and pitched the remaining four innings. She surrendered only one hit and one run.
Both teams scored in the early innings of the game and tapered off by the end. The Peacocks started things off right away in the first inning with one run being brought around after a single to right field from Jessie. The Mavericks scored two runs in the bottom of the first to take the early 2-1 lead.
Charles cracked a triple in the second inning, bringing around Doty to tie everything up at two runs apiece. MSU was hot on offense as they brought in another run in the bottom of the second after a passed ball.Â
The Peacocks took the lead for good in the third inning as a double from Doty brought around two additional runners, giving them the 4-3 advantage. They scored an additional two runs in the fourth inning after hitting four singles on two outs. VanMilligan's single to center field and Doty's single to shortstop each brought in one run, giving them the 6-3 lead. The Mavericks added one run to their total in the bottom of the fourth, but were unable to combat the Peacock offense in game two.Â
Up next, The Peacocks travel to Duluth, Minn. on Saturday, April 15 for two contests at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. They round out their week of action on Sunday in St. Cloud, Minn. with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
