The Upper Iowa men's golf team got a taste of what's to come at the end of the season as they competed in the NSIC Preview this week. The event featured 20 teams representing 18 schools, including 10 NSIC schools, at Adams Pointe Golf Club, which will host the NSIC Championships beginning on April 21.
The University of Central Missouri took first place with a score of 580 (+4) after rounds of 282 and 298. They were followed by Rogers State University with a score of 584 (+8) and Bemidji State with a score of 601 (+25). The Peacocks finished in 14th place on Tuesday with a final score of 627 (+51) after rounds of 313 and 314.
Individually, Roger State's Daniel Robles Delval earned medalist honors by five strokes with a score of 138 (-6) after rounds of 67 and 71. He was followed by Central Missouri's Calvin Dillon with a score of 143 (-1) after rounds of 69 and 74.
Nathan Petrak led UIU over the two days, finishing in a tie for 36th place with a score of 153 (+9) after rounds of 74 and 79.
Owen Davison and
Tate Carlson finished closely behind with scores of 156 (+12) and 158 (+14) respectively.
Competing as an individual,
Jacob Mahloch recorded a final score of 161 (+17).
Ashton Martens and
Nolan Ross rounded out the team score with final tallies of 164 (+20) and 165 (+21) respectively.
Individually, Davison was one of three players to tie for first in Par 5 scoring with a stroke average of 4.5 (-4). He, alongside Petrak, each recorded five birdies across the two days to lead UIU.
Up next, the Peacocks will travel to Warrensburg, Missouri to compete in The Mule. The event, hosted by UCM, is set to begin on April 3.
