Upper Iowa traveled to the state of Indiana to take on the No. 10 University of Indianapolis and fell in a 35-7 decision. The Greyhounds pounced on the Peacocks early as they put up 21 points in the first quarter. UIU scored a touchdown in the second quarter in an attempt to remain within striking distance, but the home team would go on to put another 14 points on the board in the second half. The loss dropped Upper Iowa to 3-6 (1-4 GLVC), while the University of Indianapolis kept their clean sheet and improved to 8-0 and 5-0 in conference play.
UIU scored their only touchdown of the evening in their second possession of the second quarter with just under three minutes left in the first half. The Peacocks were at the IND 30 on 2nd and 10 when quarterback
Darryl Overstreet Jr. launched a pass to
Eddie Burgess in the Greyhound endzone. Emmerson Bennett made his debut as he converted the extra point for Upper Iowa.
Indianapolis converted all but one of their touchdowns on passing plays, highlighted by their second score of the evening which featured a 70-yard toss from Gavin Sukup to Markez Gillam.
Overstreet Jr. completed 23 of 37 attempts for 178 yards while Sukup strung together 332 yards on 24 of 35 pass attempts.
RJ Wells led the Peacocks in the ground game with 77 yards.
Eddie Burgess paced the team in receiving yards with 65, while
Cam Williams contributed 43 and
Mante Morrow with 40.
Nevan Foss led the UIU defense with eight tackles
Upper Iowa competes in their last road game of the season as they take on Truman State in Kirksville, Mo. next Saturday at 12 p.m.
