Upper Iowa has started their final road trip of the season with a 2-1 loss to the Missouri S&T Miners.
Sophomore
Isabelle Wagner was back in the net after missing the previous two games, recording her first of five saves at the top of the net four minutes in. Sophomore forward
Rachyl Benavides would later fire a shot toward the bottom right corner of the goal in the 17th minute, which was saved sophomore Anastasia Barcom. After a very quiet 25 minutes of action, Missouri S&T scored the first goal of the game on a header by senior defender Ashley Haag in the 43rd minute. She scored her first goal of the season and was assisted by graduate midfielder Beth Roberts.
The Miners would follow this up with a goal two minutes into the second half on a shot by sophomore forward Olivia Olson who was assisted by freshman forward Grace Young. The Peacocks responded with great ball movement and an aggressive attack that saw them attempt three shots on goal in a four-minute span. Freshman midfielder
Aeryn Hatico attempted two of the shots, while freshman forward
Meghan Zwicker attempted the third, which were all saved. The Peacocks would later be awarded a penalty kick in the 87th minute on a foul from junior defender Jillian Pelger. Zwicker's penalty shot found the back of the net, giving her two goals on the season. She joins Benavides, junior forward
Leah Buerck and freshman midfielder
Giovanna Alexa Garcia with multiple goals on the year. Despite the great final effort, UIU would go on to lose 2-1.
