Box Score The Peacocks second to last road-trip of the season has started with a 2-1 victory over the Missouri-St. Louis Tritons.
After missing the previous nine games due to injury, senior goalkeeper
Archie Watts returned to the starting lineup, recording his first save of the game in the 13
th minute. The Peacocks struggled offensively to start the game, as they were unable to attempt a shot on target for the first 30 minutes. However, once they were finally able to beat the defense and attempt their first shot of the game, it resulted in a goal. Junior forward
Frider Blunck scored his fifth goal of the season, on an assist from graduate forward
Thomas Walle. This goal tied Blunck with sophomore midfielder
Mateo Rodriguez for most goals on the team, while Walle become the 5
th Peacock to record multiple assists on the year. The Tritons would attempt a shot right before halftime, which would go out of bounds, wide right of the goal.
The Peacocks started a similar group of 11 players in the second half, and continued their scoring dominance. In the 63
rd minute, freshman midfielder
Preston Price scored for the 4
th time this season, on an assist from senior midfielder
Patrick Carney. With that goal, Price joins Walle in a 3
rd place tie for most goals on the team, while Carney now has one goal and one assist on the year. Watts would later make his second and final save of the day in the 82
nd minute before the Tritons would score their only goal of the game, with just 11 seconds remaining. Senior midfielder Bobby Boone scored his second goal of the season on an assist from senior forward Jack Meuse. While it would have been nice for Watts to record a shutout in his first game back, the Peacocks would ultimately walk away with a much needed 2-1 victory, keeping them competitive in the race to make the 8-team GLVC Postseason Tournament.
