Upper Iowa quickly found themselves down 1-0 just two minutes into the game, as junior forward Ashlynn Robinson found the back of the net on a great pass from sophomore forward Tamerra Gantt. Upper Iowa responded with three great chances over the next ten minutes, but were denied by great goalkeeping. Sophomore defender
Natalie Lima, freshman midfielder
Mariangela Meneses and sophomore forward
Emma Johnston all had shots on goal which were saved by senior goalkeeper Ashlynn Edison. The Peacocks were later awarded a free kick in the 37
th minute from outside the box on the left side of the field. Junior defender
Chloe Jarosz lobbed the pass towards the goal, which Benavides kicked into the back of the net, scoring her second goal of the season. The Peacocks overcame their early deficit, and went into the locker room tied 1-1 at the half.
Southwest Baptist's aggressive play to start the second half resulted in them being awarded a penalty kick in the 55
th minute. Junior midfielder Abby Harrison stepped up to take the free kick, and scored giving Southwest Baptist a 2-1 lead. The Peacocks would once again respond with multiple shots on goal, which were attempted by freshman defender
Maile Kapualeinani Kehano in the 59

rd minute. Both shots were saved by Edison, giving her five saves on the day. Peacocks sophomore goalkeeper
Isabelle Wagner also made a clutch save in the 73
rd minute, which would be her second save of the game. Edison's time in goal was cut short, as she picked up a red card in the 78
th minute. She was replaced by sophomore Cassandra Rushing, who appeared in her fourth game of the season.
Upper Iowa had one final chance to tie the game, when they were awarded a corner kick with just a little over a minute left. Junior defender
Katrina Kazluski attempted a shot that made it past the goalie, but bounced off the post. Southwest Baptist's defense cleared the pass which was recovered by the Peacocks near midfield. Freshman midfielder
Aeryn Hatico lobbed a pass towards the goal, which bounced off the ground towards Rushing, ricocheted off her hands right into Benavides, who shot the ball off her chest and into the goal. Upper Iowa's goal came with only 34 seconds left in the match, resulting in a 2-2 tie. Despite playing only 36 minutes, Benavides scored both goals and now has a team high, three on the season.
