The Peacock women and men's indoor track and field teams completed their events at the Chelsey M. Henkenius Invitational hosted by Wartburg College on Saturday. The women competed with fifteen athletes and tallied 48 points, receiving 6th place. The men brought thirteen participants and gathered 42 points, also earning 6th place in the meet.
The women's team earned a chunk of their team's points in the sprints. They were led by
Jillian Dodds who placed second in the 60m dash (8.04). bringing home 8 points for the team.
Carolina Regalado ran an 8.48 and finished in 13th place. Dodds also earned another second place finish in the 200m dash with a time of 27.43, giving her 16 points in the sprints. Regalado and
Jordan Sekafetz each received two points with their finishes in the 200m dash, running a 28.85. Leah Reis ran for a time of 30.19.
In the distance events,
Ashley Donovan finished third in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:46.77, gathering six points for the team.Â
Jade Martin ran a 1:50.77 which placed her in 7th. Other competitors in the race were
Eryn Sabelka (1:52.30),
Mackenzie Rader (1:53.06) and
Jadyn Schultz (1:59.77).
Other notables include
Macey White finished in 9th place in the 300 meter run with a time of 11:52.61 and
Jordan Sekafetz coming in 7th place in the 60 meter hurdles (10.03).
The team took third place in the 4x4 meter relay, running a time of 4:21.04. The group was made up of
Jillian Dodds,
Mackenzie Rader,
Jade Martin and
Ashley Donovan.
In the throws,
Jamie Kerkvliet came in 13th place in the shot put (10.09m) whileÂ
Kiana Maghanoy notched 10th place in the weight throw with a toss of 12.83m.
On the men's side, Junior
Nathan Goranson broke the school record in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:25.5, shedding his previous mark from last year. He took second place in the event and earned the team eight points.
In the 1,000 meter run,
Bryce Baker ran for a time of 2:54.92, taking 12th place. Right behind him in 13th was
Dalton Baker with a time of 3:08.67.
In the sprints,
Alex Pitts finished 5th place in the 400 meter dash (55.48).
The squad's 4x4 meter relay took 12th place with a time of 3:44.53. The group was made up of
Alex Pitts,
Ethan Klemme,
Collin Duax and
Nathan Goranson.Â
The team was highlighted by
Jaylen Hobson who racked up points in the jumping events. He took second place in the long jump with a leap of 6.33 meters. Hobson took third in the triple jump, launching 13.31 meters out.
Alex Pitts followed right behind in the long jump, taking third place with a jump of 6.23 meters.
Ethan Klemme notched 6th place in the high jump, clearing 1.80 meters.
The Peacocks are set to compete next at the University of Northern Iowa. The meet will be held on Friday, Jan. 20.Â
