Upper Iowa opened their GLIAC homestand by falling to Purdue Northwest in a 3-0 result. The Pride improved to a record of 3-3-2 (3-1 GLIAC) for the season. The Peacocks fall to 1-7 (0-4 GLIAC) on the year.
Purdue Northwest ignited a spark at the 12:45 mark, capitalizing on a foul in the box committed by Upper Iowa. Ryan Moran stepped up and executed the penalty, setting the tone for the rest of the match.
The Pride went on to score two more goals in the contest. They carried momentum from their penalty and scored just seven minutes later. The score remained 2-0 until the 62nd minute when Purdue Northwest scored their third and final goal of the match.
Upper Iowa looked to
Kehinde Afolabi as their main attacking outlet, but failed to find a way back into the game. The Peacocks outshot the Pride 10-7, a season first for the Peacocks.
The Peacocks play the second game of their home series on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. against Davenport University.
