Upper Iowa finished up their weekend in Minnesota with a match against St. Cloud State University, resulting in a 1-1 draw. The Peacocks move to 2-3-2 (1-1-2 NSIC) on the season and the Huskies now sit at 2-4-1 (1-2-1 NSIC) on the year.
The game remained scoreless until the second half. In the 72nd minute of the contest,
Haley Ramberg put Upper Iowa on the board by netting the first goal of the match and her first of the season. This marks Ramberg's 10th goal of her Peacock career. The score was assisted by Rachyl Benevides, her first dime of the year.
The Huskies answered back just four minutes later. At the 76 mark, St. Cloud's Jada Datchler pulled the game to a 1-1 draw. The score held for the rest of the competition.
St. Cloud State edged Upper Iowa in shots taken with a 12-5 advantage, 7-3 in the first half. Goalkeeper
Isabelle Wagner grabbed 3 saves in the midst of the Husky attacks. The Peacocks saw shot attempts from
Katie Samuels,
Haley Ramberg and
Rachyl Benavides. Two of those were on goal.
The Peacocks host their first two home conference matches next weekend on Sept. 23 and 25. Upper Iowa welcomes the University of Mary on Friday at 3:30 p.m. Their second matchup of the weekend is against Minot State University on Sunday at 12 p.m.
