WEEKEND IN REVIEW... Upper Iowa men's soccer traveled to the Show-Me State for a pair of games last weekend. They faced Drury University in their 2022 season opener, losing 4-1 to the Panthers. In his Peacock debut, Yannis Sapim scored in the second half of the match on a ball dished to him by Angel Tapia. UIU men's soccer carried on to face their next opponent, University of Missouri-St. Louis, suffering a 5-2 loss. Sapim once again found himself on the score sheet with his second goal of the season. He was accompanied in scoring by Edward Stephens-Truman, who netted his first of the season.

CONSISTENCY AGAINST COLORADO CHRISTIAN... Colorado Christian currently holds a 1-0-1 record in the 2022 season. They came to a scoreless draw with their first opponent, Dallas Baptist University. The Cougars were then deemed victorious in their next matchup against Southwest Baptist University, edging a 3-1 advantage. Gabe Roloff scored two of the three goals for CCU. Adrian Diez gave them a convincing lead by netting the third goal in the second half of the contest.

THE SERIES… UIU and CCU have met three times in program history. The Peacocks are currently ahead in the series 2-1. Their first contest was held in 2008, resulting in a 2-1 win. Three years later, the Peacocks and Cougars met again, this resulting in a 0-0 tie. In the last matchup, held in 2015, Upper Iowa clinched a 2-1 victory. Each three games have been held at Colorado Christian, making this their first appearance in Fayette.

CONTESTING QUINCY... Quincy University possesses a 0-1-1 record on the year. They opened their 2022 campaign at Parkside, but fell with a 0-1 result. Their second opponent of the season was Northern Michigan. The match finished in a 2-2 tie. Ben Whitmore and Kamou Harris each notched a goal that game. The Hawks were chosen eighth in the GLVC preseason coaches' poll (out of 13 teams). This will be the first time in program history these two teams have competed against one another.

FURTHER DOWN THE ROAD... The Peacocks begin conference play next weekend on the road. The men's soccer program travels to Marquette, Michigan in their first GLIAC meeting versus Northern Michigan. The game takes place Friday, Sept. 9 at 3 p.m. ET. UIU then heads to Parkside in a matchup with another conference foe on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 2:30pm.
