Upper Iowa Suffers Gateway City Road Loss

The Peacocks played their second road game this afternoon at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. The contest was hosted at Don Dallas Soccer Field.

Upper Iowa fell to the Tritons in a 5-2 result. Four of the goals made by UMSL were produced in the first half of the match. UIU outscored UMSL in the second half of the game 2-1.

The two goals earned for the Peacocks were penalty kicks converted by Edward Stephens-Truman and Yannis Sapim. Stephens-Truman found the back of the net in the 50th minute of competition. Sapim added his contribution in the 85th minute.

Missouri-St. Louis scored their first goal within the first 30 seconds of the game. The next three scores happened within the next 25 minutes of the match. The Tritons netted their last goal in the second half at the 47 minute mark, prior to both UIU goals.

The squad was in attack mode offensively as they attempted to take advantage of potential scoring opportunities. The Peacocks outshot the Tritons 14-13 in the contest, 5 of those which were on goal.

The Goalkeeping crew on both sides each nabbed three saves in the game. Archie Watts and Tristan Whitlock both saw time in the keeper position this afternoon.

Upper Iowa sees their next action right here at Harms-Eischeid Stadium on Sept. 1 at 6:00pm as they host Colorado Christian University in a non-conference matchup. Follow along with our webcast or live stats at UIUPeacocks.com/Live!
