Upper Iowa's women and men's track and field teams competed in St. Paul, Minnesota at the Meet of the Unsaintly hosted by Hamline University. The women's team broke a pair of team records in the 100m dash and the 4x100m relay, while Peacock athletes claimed three event titles, a pair of runner-up finishes and four third-place marks.
 
Nailea Espinoza had a great day on the track for the women's team and was part of both program record-setting runs. Espinoza won the 100m dash title in a run of 12.13 seconds to set the Peacock top mark. The freshman speedster then joined Jordan Sekafetz, Maddie Stevens, and Zakaria Fuller in the 4x100m relay to win the event and set a new program record of 48.34 seconds.
 
Kai Bateman won the triple jump event with a mark of 13.81 meters, while teammate Jaylen Hobson placed third with a final leap of 13.27 meters. Austin Bittenbender and Macklin Conrad placed second and third in the javelin after throws of 50.58 and 48.41 meters, respectively. Cameron Green placed fourth in the 400m dash with a time of 49.88 to get around the track, while Nathan Goranson ran his 800m race in a time of 1:58.37 to place fourth. Bateman and Hobson also placed fifth and sixth, respectively, in the long jump with marks of 6.41 and 6.34 meters.
 
In addition to Espinoza's great runs in the 100m and the 4x100m relay team, she also placed second in the 200m dash with a time of 26.43 seconds. Kiana Maghanoy placed third in discus with a throw of 39.91 meters, while Brittiney Harris grabbed the third best mark in the shot put with a toss of 11.15 meters. Maghanoy placed fifth in the shot put with a best throw of 10.73 meters. Margaret Nielsen and Harris placed fifth and sixth, respectively, in the high jump with leaps of 1.5 and 1.4 meters. Ashley Donovan ran the 3K steeplechase in a time of 13:24.75 to place sixth. Sekafetz added a sixth-place finish in the 100m hurdles in a time of 15.95 seconds.
 
Upper Iowa will compete in the Northern Sun Conference Championships this coming Thursday through Sunday, May 12-14, in Aberdeen, S.D.
