Upper Iowa's track and field teams wrapped up their 2022 outdoor season in Aberdeen, S.D. on Saturday with a third and final day at the NSIC Championships. The men's team placed 12
th with seven points, while the women's team placed 15
th behind eight points.

Minnesota State University, Mankato won both the men's (214 points) and women's (191 points) championships, with Augustana University claiming second place in both championships with 136 and 127 points, respectively.

Austin Bittenbender placed 7
th in the Decathlon with 5438 points fueled by a pair of top finishes in the shot put and javelin and second-place in both the 400m dash and discus. The seventh-place finish secured UIU's first two points of the championships on the men's side. Bittenbender added two more points in the javelin with a throw of 46.94 meters.

Jaylen Hobson grabbed seventh place in the triple jump to score a pair of team points with a top leap of 14.21 meters. The final point for the Peacocks came in the 4x100m relay when Upper Iowa placed eighth thanks to a run of 43.56 seconds by Kehinde Afolabi,
Cameron Green,
Kai Bateman and Hobson.

Maddie Stevens, who ran the third-fastest time of 57.45 seconds in the 400m dash prelims, placed fifth in the final of the 400m in a time of 57.86 seconds to score four points for UIU.
Kiana Maghanoy claimed a point for the Peacocks with a throw of 45.19 meters in the discus. The 4x100m relay team scored UIU's final three points with a sixth-place run of 48.82 seconds.
Nailea Espinoza, Stevens,
Jordan Sekafetz and
Zakaria Fuller combined for the solid run.

th) completed their two-days in the heptathlon on Friday as well.

th in the finals for the women's 3K steeplechase and the 10K, respectively.

Several other Peacocks ran in prelims, but did not qualify for the finals on Saturday. Stevens was tenth in the 200m (25.25 sec),

th in the event after a throw of 23.91 meters. Bateman pulled off 11
th place in the triple jump with a mark of 13.73 meters.

While the Peacocks 4x100m relay teams both placed and scored points, the 4x400m relay teams for both squads placed 11
th in their races. For the men, Green, Goranson, Hobson, and Bateman ran their race in a time of 3:33.33. The women were represented by Fuller, Stevens, Martin and
Brianna Crouch and pushed across the finish line in a time of 4:07.37.
