Golden Bears Defeat Peacocks Under the Lights in Fayette

Upper Iowa's women's lacrosse team hosted the Golden Bears of Concordia University, St. Paul in a match within the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Concordia-St. Paul earned a 23-2 win to improve to 5-8 overall and 1-3 in the conference, while the Peacocks fell to 0-6 overall and 0-4 in the GLIAC.

CSP grabbed an 11-0 lead at the first quarter horn and pushed their shutout to claimed a 10-0 lead after the first quarter and ran their consecutive scores to 15-0. Maya Chesky broke the run with an unassisted goal with three minutes to play in the first half. The Golden Bears added one more goal in the final minute to take a 16-1 lead into the break at halftime.

Bailee Fabert scored UIU's second goal of the game to open the scoring in the third quarter. Concordia-St. Paul closed the game out with three scores in the third and four more in the final frame for the 23-2 win.
 
The Golden Bears claimed a 36-6 advantage in shots and forced Upper Iowa into 20 turnovers in the game. Upper Iowa forced Concordia-St. Paul into 13 turnovers despite playing with only eight players in the field in addition to their goalie.

Fabert and Chesky each took three shots while converting one apiece. Izzy Kaczik made five saves in the contest.

Molly Moynihan recorded 11 points thanks to four goals and seven assists. Hailey Hartlage also scored four goals, while Maddy Seifert scored three times and eight other players scored in the contest. 

The Peacocks will host the Lakers of Grand Valley State University on Friday, Apr. 8 and the Panthers of Davenport University on Sunday, Apr. 10 in Harms-Eischeid Stadium.
