The Upper Iowa men's golf team continued the spring portion of their 2021-22 season this week in Blue Springs, Mo. at the NSIC Preview. The Peacocks placed 13th in a field of 18 teams at the Adams Pointe Golf Club after two rounds (319, 313) for a total of 632.
Rogers State University took first place with a score of 580. Winona State, the official hosts of the event, tied for third place with a score of 598.
On the individual leaderboard, Luke Palmowski of Rogers State University finished with the top score at 139 (-5) beating out Jack Junge of Rockhurst University and Walker Tynes of Drury University, who each shot 144 (E).
Nolan Leaton and
Trent Shaw tied for the top score for UIU, with each golfer recording rounds of 78 and 76 for a score of 154 (+10) to tie for 32
nd.
Nolan Ross followed up an opening round of 79 with an 81 to finish at 160 (+16) and tie for 66
th.
Jacob Mahloch improved on his opening round score of 84 with an 81 to finish at 165 (+21) and tie for 83
rd.
Tate Carlson was able to rebound after an opening round of 87 with a second round score of 80 to finish at 167 (+23) and tie for 87
th.
Nathan Petrak played as an individual and tied for 77th after recording an opening round score of 83 before improving by four strokes to record a 79 in round two.
Leaton tied for fourth among all golfers with seven birdies over the two days of competition while Shaw was one of six players to record an eagle.
Up next, the Peacocks will compete in The Mule, hosted by the University of Central Missouri, at the National Golf Club in Warrensburg, Mo. on Monday and Tuesday, Apr. 4-5.
