The Upper Iowa men's golf team were in action this week at the Flyer Invitational in Lemont, Illinois. The event was hosted by Lewis University and featured 11 competing teams. The Peacocks finished in sixth place with a final score of 638 (+62) after two identical rounds of 319.
Bellevue University (NE) took first place with a score of 573 (-3) after rounds of 280 and 293. They were followed by Indian Hills Community College with a score of 595 (+19) and Lake Superior State University with a score of 623 (+47).
Individually, the top three golfers all came from Bellevue. Rodrigo Navarette finished with the top score at 140 (-4) after rounds of 67 and 71. He was followed by Hugo Ronnberg with a score of 142 (-2) and Alex Zillig with a score of 143 (-1).
Tate Carlson finished in 22nd place as the top golfer for the Peacocks with a final score of 156 (+12) after two identical rounds of 78. He was followed by
Nathan Petrak, who finished in a tie for 24th place with a score of 159 (+15).
Owen Davison tied for 27th place with a final score of 160 (+16), while
Nolan Leaton recorded a score of 163 (+19) to finish in a tie for 33rd place.
Ashton Martens rounded out the team with a score of 178 (+34) to finish in a tie for 55th place.
As a team, UIU finished third in Par 5 scoring with a 5.00 stroke average (E). Carlson and Petrak led the way by each recording a stroke average of 4.63 (-3).
Up next, the Peacocks will wrap up the fall portion of their schedule next week at the Missouri Western State University Invitational beginning on October 9.
