PEACOCK HUE REVIEW… Over the weekend, the Peacocks played two matches at Harms-Eischeid Stadium. Their first battle was with (No. 14) UW Parkside. Throughout the game, Parkside capitalized on several stray few moments. They opened the scoring after converting on a free kick in the 23rd minute. Three minutes later, the Rangers doubled their lead on an unfortunate own goal. Wisconsin-Parkside then made it 3-0 in the 35th minute as they created an opportunity from a long ball clearance. The shot snuck in at the back post. The score held for the entirety of the match.

Against Northern Michigan, Upper Iowa got off to a slow start. The Wildcats converted their first goal in the 17th minute of the match from a corner kick. They continued with their hot shot offense and netted their second goal of the afternoon only one minute later. The Peacocks came to life with a score in the 25th minute of the game from Frider Blunck, with assists from Dexter Garrett and Carson Cajuste. The Wildcats answered with one more goal before the first 45 minutes came to a close. At the 28:26 mark, NMU netted one into the top right corner, leaving them with a 3-1 lead going into halftime.

The two teams battled it out evenly for the first part of the second half. In the 73rd minute, a foul was called on Upper Iowa in the box, giving Northern Michigan a penalty opportunity. The Wildcats stepped up and converted. Upper Iowa created the same penalty kick opportunity for themselves just a few minutes later. Leart Wunsch drew a foul in the box which gave Edward Stephens-Truman the penalty opportunity. His successful attempt brought the game to a score of 4-2, in favor of Northern Michigan. The Peacocks sought out several more scoring opportunities, but were just off the mark in doing so. The 4-2 result held for the remainder of the contest.

ONE, TWO, FRI-DER… Frider Blunck netted his third goal of the season against Northern Michigan this past weekend, making him the offensive scoring leader for the Peacocks. Blunck has tallied a total of eight goals in his Peacock career. All but one of them have been scored against Northern Michigan.
