PEACOCK HUE REVIEW… In their most recent matches, the Peacocks faced Truman State and Saginaw Valley State. Against the Bulldogs, the contest resulted in a 0-0 draw. Upper Iowa mustered 15 shot attempts with six on goal, but they were unable to convert. The Peacock back line handled their due diligence as they prevented Truman State from capitalizing on any scoring opportunities. This marked UIU's second tie of the season.
In their battle with (No. 5) Saginaw Valley State, the Peacocks put up an impressive second half effort, but came up just shy in a 2-1 result. UIU started slow as a shot from the Cardinals found its way past
Archie Watts in the Peacock goal within the opening minute. The Cardinals netted another goal just 20 minutes later, going into halftime with a 2-0 lead. Upper Iowa came into the second stint with new life. Halfway through the second segment, a long ball was launched into the box from
Daniel Pranger and looked to be heading into the goalkeeper's gloves. Alex Arriola nipped in front, along with
Jonathan Baylon, whose one touch pass played perfectly to
Leart Wunsch. Wunsch's shot was driven to the roof of the net, bringing the score to 2-1. Upper Iowa continued to mount a comeback. Within the final minute, all 11 Peacocks were in the opposite 18 yard box in a desperate last ditch attempt to tie the game, but were unsuccessful. Despite the result, the team was left with a positive outlook heading into next week's games.
