FAYETTE, Iowa. - Upper Iowa men's soccer (1-7-4, 1-7-2 GLVC) dropped a match to Truman State (Mo.) (5-4-3, 4-3-3 GLVC) on Wednesday. Forwards Nahum Ghyslain Wellot Samba and Timur Nagy each took two shots with a shot on goal in the 2-0 loss.
The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead after taking a penalty kick during the 31st minute. The penalty kick was converted by midfielder Jacob Pangos.
Midfielder Matas Dumalakas attempted a shot two minutes later, but it was saved by goalkeeper Owen Robben. The shot went towards the bottom center of the net.
Truman State added another goal in the 86th minute. The goal was scored by Pangos again. He was assisted by midfielder Russell Woods.
Forward Benjamin Wendel missed a shot high over the goal in the final 10 seconds. TSU held on for the 2-0 victory.
Goalkeeper Noah Nymark-Pedersen posted four saves. Nymark-Pedersen, Wilhelmsson, Kurakinas, Buccini and Dumalakas all played 90 minutes.
Both Nagy and Wellot Samba attempted two shots with a shot on goal. Dumalakas and midfielder Pedro Campanha Buccini each had a shot on goal. Defenders Carl Wilhelmsson and Arnas Kurakinas both took a shot
Pangos totaled seven shots with three on goal and two goals for Truman. Forward Nolan Schulte and midfielder Roman Scognamillo took two shots, with a shot on goal. Owens had three saves.
The Peacocks posted nine shots with four on goal. The Bulldogs boasted 12 shots with six on goal. There was a total of 24 corner kicks taken, four by UIU and two by TSU.
Upper Iowa outfouled Truman St, 13-11. Each team received two yellow cards.
UIU hosts No. 11 Drury (Mo.) (8-2-1, 6-1-1 GLVC) on Sunday, Oct. 11, at 1:30 p.m. The Panthers beat Quincy (Ill.) (5-2-5, 4-1-4 GLVC) on Oct. 3.
