In their only contest this week, Upper Iowa men's soccer suffered a loss to St. Cloud in a 2-0 result. The Peacocks fell to an overall record of 1-9 and 0-6 in the GLIAC. The Huskies nabbed their first conference win as they improved to 2-6-2 overall and 1-5 in the GLIAC.
The contest remained scoreless throughout the first half and partially into the second until 63rd minute when St. Cloud found their groove. The ball soared into the upper left corner for the first goal of the evening. Their second score was netted at the 77:19 mark, and the Huskies held their 2-0 lead for the rest of the match.
St. Cloud doubled Upper Iowa's amount of shot attempts, edging them in a 20-10 advantage. The Huskies took 14 of those attempts in the second half. In the 10 shots offered from UIU, three of them were on goal. Several scoring opportunities were presented in transition, but they were unable to execute. The Peacocks had the upper hand in corner kicks with five in comparison to St. Cloud's two.

Archie Watts found himself in the hot seat this evening and managed to pull down a total of eight saves in the contest.
Upper Iowa will play a pair of GLIAC matches next weekend. They begin their road trip at Davenport University on Friday, Oct. 7 at 12:30 p.m. CST. Their second contest of the weekend will be played at Purdue University Northwest on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 10 a.m. CST.
