Women's Soccer Snags Senior Day Tie Against MSU-Moorhead

Upper Iowa women's soccer finished their home-stand with a match against Minnesota State University-Moorhead. In their final Sunday game of the season, the Peacocks played to a 1-1 draw with the Dragons. UIU is now 2-9-4 and 1-7-4 in conference. MSU-Moorhead is now 2-8-3 overall and 2-7-3 in the NSIC.

The Dragons were first to strike in the contest. At the 9:27 mark, they took advantage of a corner kick opportunity by crossing the ball and heading it into the back of the UIU net for the 1-0 lead. The remainder of the half was dominated by Upper Iowa. They contained the ball on their offensive side of the field for the majority of the second half as they were persistent with shot attempts.

Coming out in the second segment, the Peacocks continued putting pressure on the Dragon defense and harassing their offense. In the 79th minute, the Peacocks prevailed with a corner kick that made its way towards the Dragons' box. Katie Samuels connected with it and dished to Katrina Kazluski who found the back of the net to tie up the match 1-1. This was Kazluski's first goal of the season.

The two teams battled it out for the remaining time on the clock, but the score held 1-1 for the entirety of the match. The Peacocks dominated the offensive aspect of the game as they outshot the Dragons 22-4. Ten of their shots were on frame. Upper Iowa had a last second attempt by Haley Ramberg, but it was just off the mark.

Up next, the Peacocks host Augustana University on Friday, Oct. 21 at 6 p.m. On Sunday, they travel to Nebraska to challenge Wayne State College. Kick off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
