Upper Iowa battled their first conference competitor of the weekend as they suffered a loss to Northern State 1-0. The Peacocks fell to 2-9-3 (1-6-3 NSIC) and the Wolves improved to 7-3-4 (5-2-4 NSIC).

Jordan Zarate had the first look of the game. A corner from Chloe Jarosoz found Zarate 12 yards out. Her header was cleared off of the goal line and eventually crowded out by Northern State. In similar fashion, just a minute later, the Wolves had an opportunity at the opposite end but failed to trouble Isabelle Wagner in the Peacock goal. Both sides continued to build and create, however, it was the Wolves who found themselves with the next scoring opportunity. A freekick from 26 yards found its way to the far post but the proceeding effort was wide of the post. 

Mia Zagorski of Northern State broke the deadlock at the 17:53 mark. The Wolves broke down the left hand side and the first shot parried into the middle of the goal by Wagner, but was not successful. The second attempt in the mixture by Zagorski was deflected into the goal from close range, giving the Wolves a 1-0 advantage.

With the game still poised at 1-0, Ally Franke was deemed to have handled the ball in the box. In turn, Northern State stepped up to take the penalty. Wagner was equal to the shot, diving to her right and securing the save to keep the score at 1-0. This would be her second penalty save of the season. The Peacocks continued their efforts to tie the game, but to no avail. 

The Peacocks are back in action on Sunday for their Senior Day match against Minnesota State Moorhead. Kick off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
