Upper Iowa's volleyball team returned to .500 in the Northern Sun Conference with a dominant performance in Minot, N.D. The Peacocks swept the host Beavers of Minot State University to improve to 9-4 overall and 2-2 in the conference, while MiSU fell to 0-9 overall and 0-4 in the NSIC.
The Peacocks won the three sets by scores of 25-5, 25-15 and 25-13 posting a massive 34-17 advantage in kills for the match. Upper Iowa hit .273 in the match including a hot .400 in the first set thanks to 10 kills and only two attack errors in 20 swings.
While the offense was controlling the pace of play, the UIU defense forced the Beavers into a negative hitting percentage, -.011, thanks to 18 attack errors. Upper Iowa also scored 14 of their 53 points on the night thanks to service aces.Â
Madelyn Rettler picked up seven kills and nine digs, while
Zoe Semelroth added six kills and three blocks.
Nicole Pozorski handed out 20 assists and added three kills and four digs.
Charisma Herr recorded 10 digs and six service aces, while
Sarah Stevelinck chipped in eight digs and three aces.Â
Upper Iowa is slated to face the University of Mary on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Bismarck, N.D.
