The Upper Iowa men's track and field team got on the track at the Rock Bowl in Dubuque, Iowa on Thursday for their first competition outdoors since the spring of 2019. Upper Iowa took part in the Easter Mid-Week event hosted by Loras College at the Rock Bowl Stadium. No team scores were accumulated in the event.
 
The men were paced by 15 top-eight finishes across 14 events highlighted by Paul Marchand's win in the 100-meter dash where he beat all the competitors to the finish line in a time of 11.02 seconds.
 
Teddy Ayden placed fourth in the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.24 seconds and fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.77 seconds. UIU also represented well in the 110-meter hurdles thanks to runs by Brady Krupa, who placed fourth (16.65 seconds), and Andrew Paskey, who placed fifth (17.92).
 
Upper Iowa also executed well on their jumps on the afternoon. In the long jump, the Peacocks had three athletes place in the top eight. Marchand was second with a leap of 6.94 meters, while Jaylen Hobson was third after a best jump of 6.82 meters. Nicholas Trimuel rounded out the trio with a seventh-place finish after a jump of 6.28 meters. Hobson also placed third in the triple jump with a top mark of 13.64 meters.
 
Kaden Ludwig secured a seventh-place finish in the 400-meter dash in a time of 52.32.3, while Deion Jones scored a sixth-place time of 57.52 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles. UIU placed fourth and eighth with a pair of teams in the 4x100-meter relay with the team of Ludwig, Ayden, Joe Edozie and Marchand put together a time of 42.82 seconds and Jones, Hobson, Cameron Green and Krupa ran the race in 44.83.
 
UIU's final two top-eight finishers were from the throws. Caden Wendt placed sixth with a throw of 13.18 meters in the shot put and Macklin Conrad grabbed sixth in the javelin with a throw of 41.94 meters.
 
The Peacocks will get back on the track in Waverly, Iowa on Apr. 9-10 in a tournament hosted by Wartburg College.
