GAME ONE: Upper Iowa 4, Bemidji State 1

The Peacocks began the game in a big way scoring three runs in the bottom of the first. Kyle Routhieaux walked to start things off before Jake Hilmer doubled deep down the line to put two in scoring position. Alex Greene brought both in with a triple over the head of Bemidji State's left fielder. Samuel Grushkin then shot a ground ball to the left side that brought Greene home to push UIU's advantage to 3-0.

Upper Iowa scored another run in the fifth thanks to some savvy baserunning from Grushkin. Grushkin reached via hit by a pitch. The freshman then stole second base and advanced to third on the ensuing throw. Adrian Trujillo singled up the middle scoring Grushkin picking up the RBI and making it a 4-0 ballgame.

The Beavers added a run of their own in the top of the sixth. Noah Boser connected on a solo shot to left field cutting BSU's deficit to 4-1. Neither team scored from then on resulting in the 4-1 win for the Peacocks snapping a four-skid.

Both pitchers went the distance. Jarrett Ramer allowed just one earned run on three hits and a pair of free passes in seven innings of work to earn the complete game victory and improve to 2-2. Ramer didn't allow a hit in the first three innings on the mound as the freshman retired nine of the first ten batters he faced en route to his second win of the season. Will Lavin went six innings for the Beavers and suffered the loss.

GAME TWO: Upper Iowa 9, Bemidji State 6

The Peacocks took an early advantage again scoring three in the bottom of the second. Greene led things off with his second triple of the day, he quickly came home on a Grushkin sacrifice fly. The Peacocks pair of lefty first basemen, AJ Friedrich and Evan Kerlin, reached on a walk and a single, respectively. The hit was Kerlin's first as a Peacock in the sophomore's second career start. Noah Glydenvand brought the duo home with a single to left field and a subsequent error giving Upper Iowa its second 3-0 edge of the day.

Bemidji had a big inning in the following frame as the Beavers scored six runs in the top of the third. Keaton Parker retired six straight Beavers prior to the inning. Two errors and a pair of singles brought the first run home. An error, a walk, a single, and a sac fly chronologically brought in five more giving BSU a 6-3 lead.

The Peacocks immediately tied things up at six in the bottom half of the frame. The bases were loaded with one out following a hit-by-pitch, a fielder's choice, a single, and a walk. Friedrich then singled up the middle past the opposing pitcher bringing Hilmer and Hogan Penny home. Grushkin acted as the tying run after Trujillo singled into left field effectively knotting the game up at six.

Upper Iowa went on to add an insurance run in the fifth and two in the seventh. Grushkin scored for the second time thanks to Gyldenvand getting on via error. The latter two runs came across the plate when Routhieaux was hit by a pitch then brought all the way home on an error committed by the Beavers' left fielder. Hilmer struck a single into the outfield scoring Ryan Hull, the ninth and final run.

Parker retired nine straight batters after the big inning to close out his day. The freshman struck out five and picked up the win. None of the six runs allowed were earned, Parker also allowed four hits and one base on balls in the outing. Chris Webber came in to close things out for UIU allowing no batter to reach the base paths in two innings on the hill keeping the junior's perfect 0.00 ERA intact. Webber struck out four, securing the 9-6 victory for Upper Iowa and earning his second save of the season.
