LAST WEEK IN PEACOCK ESPORTS... The Upper Iowa University Esports team competed in just three times in two separate games over the past week from Mar. 22 to 24. The Peacocks opened their week with a 3-1 win in their ECAC Rocket League match against Elmira College. UIU followed that with another 3-1 win in Rocket League as they bested Concordia University (Wis.) Team 2 in NECC action. Upper Iowa closed the week with a loss in NECC Valorant action as their usual end-of-week NECC Overwatch game was rescheduled and pushed back to the following week.
ECAC ROCKET LEAGUE... The Peacocks claimed an exciting 3-1 win in their best-of-five match against Elmira College. UIU took an early lead with a dominant 4-1 win in game one and followed it up with a 2-1 win in game two to push their advantage to 2-0 in the match. With their backs against the wall, the Screaming Eagles scratched back into the game by beating the Peacocks 3-2 in game three. The fourth game was a back and forth affair as neither team took an advantage through the first 4:59 of the 5:00 minute period, but a go-ahead goal with only one second remaining put the Peacocks up 3-2 and served as the match-clinching goal as UIU won 3-1.

NECC ROCKET LEAGUE... Upper Iowa played a high scoring and tightly contested match against Concordia University (Wis.) Team 2 in their weekly NECC Rocket League play. The Peacocks fell by a score of 4-2 in the opening game as they faced an early one-point deficit in their best-of-five match. UIU came up with an answer in game two as they won 3-2 and knotted the score at 1-1 in the match. Upper Iowa took the lead with a 4-3 win in the third game before continuing to ride their momentum to complete the comeback with a 5-3 victory in the fourth and final game.

NECC VALORANT... Upper Iowa fell by a score of 2-0 in their NECC Valorant match against Springfield College. The Peacocks dropped round one by a score of 13-2 before falling 13-0 in round two.
UP NEXT... The Peacocks are scheduled to open their week with their rescheduled NECC Overwatch match against Champlain College JV on Mar. 30 at 7 p.m. as they look to stay undefeated. Upper Iowa's NECC Rocket League squad will face Kansas Wesleyan University in a match that is also on Mar. 30 and scheduled for a 9 p.m. start. UIU will compete in NECC Valorant against Hood College on Mar. 31 before another big NECC Overwatch match against Fresno State #2 on Apr. 1. Regardless of Tuesday's Overwatch results, the NECC matchup on Thursday will be between the top two teams in teh conference as the Peacocks could have a change to finish the regular season without a loss and claim the top seed in the upcoming playoffs.
