THIS WEEK IN PEACOCK ESPORTS... The Upper Iowa University Esports team split their week of contests in Valorant and Rocket League. The Peacocks fell by a score of 2-0 in their best-of-three Valorant match against the University of South Alabama on Monday before claiming a win by forfeit in their Rocket League match against California State University, Dominguez Hills on Tuesday.
NECC VALORANT - 10/25... Upper Iowa fell by a score of 2-0 in the best-of-three match against the University of South Alabama. Opening play on the map "Icebox," the Peacocks fell by a score of 13-3 in the best-of-25 map. On the second map, "Ascent," Upper Iowa bounced back to win the first four rounds, but the Jaguars won 13 straight to clinch the 13-4 win on the map and the 2-0 win in the match.
Map 1 (Icebox): The Peacocks were swept in each of the first two rounds of the best-of-25 map, but Upper Iowa bounced back with a strong third round as they cut their deficit to 2-1. South Alabama had a bounce-back of their own as they won four consecutive rounds to go up 6-1, but the Peacocks pulled off a thrifty win in round eight to make it a 6-2 game. The Jaguars answered again by winning the next two rounds, but UIU looked dominant in round 11 after each Peacock recorded a kill, and four UIU players were left standing after defusing the spike. South Alabama won the 12th round to go up 9-3 before the teams switched sides, and Upper Iowa needed to turn the tide as the attackers to get back into the match. USA came out strong in round 13 to go up 10-3, and the Jaguars won the next three rounds to claim a 13-3 win on the best-of-25 map and go up 1-0 in the best-of-three match.

Map 2 (Ascent): In round one of the second map, the action started almost immediately as South Alabama pushed hard, but the Peacocks held firm and won the round with four players standing thanks to four kills from
Caleb Glube. UIU defused the spike at the last second in round two as they took a 2-0 lead, and the Peacocks continued their hot start with a win in round three to go up 3-0. Upper Iowa won the fourth round as well with three players remaining, and they looked to be in control of the map as they needed to win to force a tie-breaking third map. South Alabama took a timeout following UIU's 4-0 start, and their 60-second break seemed to work wonders as the Jaguars secured a flawless win in round five as they eliminated all five Peacocks without losing a member. South Alabama's timeout proved to be the turning point of the match as they went on to win 13 consecutive rounds and claim the 13-4 win in the map, clinching the 2-0 win in the match in the process.

NECC ROCKET LEAGUE - 10/26... Upper Iowa was scheduled to match up against California State University, Dominguez Hills in Rocket League on Tuesday, but the Toros forfeited the match and allowed the Peacocks to claim the win.
